2013 FCCI Advocacy
2013 Legislative Wrap-Up!
It was a busy and important legislative session for family child care providers. FCCI is proud of its contributions to this year's legislative session. FCCI's Advocacy Committee began its works for this session in May 2012! Many thanks to the following for their leadership in this area. Jen Bestgen, Kari Fairclough, Jackie Harrington, Cheri Hoeft, Jennifer Parrish, Shan Stewart and Lee Vang.
FCCI partnered with our state association, MLFCCA, throughout the session, as well as providers from a number of other county associations. Together, we were able shape the final outcome of the proposed changes brought to the legislature this year. FCCI and MLFCCA drafted and introduced amendments, worked directly with legislators and DHS to provide clarifying language and amend bill language, and advocated for the profession of family child care.
The chart below has been created to assist providers in understanding the legislative actions that will affect you and your business.
DHS will send out information on the interpretation and implementation of all licensing changes. Individual providers should also contact their county licensors with specific questions.
